5 Things We Love About Toronto

In celebration of the international holiday of love, Valentine’s Day, we asked our CEO and President, Cailey Heaps, to share the top 5 things she loves about the city we call home – Toronto.

To view the full-length video, click here or continue reading our blog to find out more…

#1 – The People

Toronto is Canada’s biggest city and the fourth largest in North America, so it’s no surprise that it attracts many different people from all walks of life. As well as being an international hotspot for finance, arts, sports and culture, it is also recognised as one of the world’s most multicultural* and cosmopolitan cities.

Toronto is also fortunate enough to have some fantastic communities such as Little Italy, Little Portugal, Chinatown, Koreatown and so on. So if you spend a bit of time in the city, you’ll quickly realize that our multiculturalism is woven into every aspect of our way of life, whether it’s our food, our art, our festivals, or our businesses.

#2 – Activities & Experiences

With Toronto attracting over 43 million tourists every year and being home to 6.3+ million* residents, we can always count on the fact that there are many things to do here!

Whether that be watching a show at Kerner Hall or Roy Thompson Hall, perusing what the ROM has to offer, or heading to Mervish with friends or family, you’ll never be bored in the wonderful place that we call home.

#3 – Food

But if going to a show isn’t your thing, and you’d rather eat your way around a city, then Toronto is the perfect place for you. It really is the city of so many tastes, from affordable and authentic cuisines to Michelin-starred restaurants throughout many of our vibrant neighbourhoods.

Some of our personal favourites include:

#4 – Green Spaces

Although Toronto is known for its towering skyscrapers and iconic skyline, it is also home to many beautiful greenspaces of all different shapes and sizes.

From exploring our fantastic ravine systems to walking along the beautiful beaches in our East End, there are many different places to explore. Next time you’re out and about, why not head to The Leslie Street Spit, The Toronto Music Garden or Evergreen Brickworks and check out these fantastic gems? You won’t regret it!

#5 – Escapism

Toronto’s prime location makes it ideal for tourists to come and visit. Still, for those of us who reside here year-round, Toronto also benefits from being in close proximity to many great weekend destinations.

On the doorstep, we have direct access to Prince Edward County, Muskoka and the Niagara Region, which all offer a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sandbanks, beautiful lakes and plenty of wineries – countless things for everyone in the family to enjoy. Oh, and did we mention one of the world’s seven wonders?

So those are the top 5 things that we love about our city! Please feel free to reach out to us if you’d like more information or have any questions about what it’s like to live in Toronto – we would be more than happy to provide you with our insights.
