This holiday season we are once again partnering with Joy in a Box, a charitable initiative that teaches children about helping others and the importance of giving back. We are asking our community to come together and help support this initiative which provides children of all ages living in shelters with an extra special gift to open this holiday.
Joy In A Box started out as an idea by Michèle Hunter, a long time Preschool teacher, she began doing a charitable giving program at her school in December of 2019. Each family was asked to find a sturdy, colourful box and fill it with unwrapped items that other children might like to receive. The response was great, and “Joy in a Box” was born. How you can help:
1) Select an age group: Pre-School age, School age or High School
2) Buy a decorative holiday box or clear bin.
3) Fill the box with goodies like: Toys, mitts, socks, stickers, books, crafts, gift certificates etc. Please keep sustainability in mind and buy items with longevity.
4) Drop off your unwrapped Gift Boxes under the HET tree on or before December 10th at 1391 Bayview Avenue.
Joy in a Box will collect and deliver your generous gifts to children at Jessie’s Centre, Nellie’s, Red Door Shelter, Ernestine’s & Interval House.
This season having fun with your family and giving back has never been easier. We can’t wait to see all the gift boxes under the HET tree for children in need.
Thank you for your support.
