The Silver Lining Project

Heaps Estrin and photographer Camilla Pucholt launch initiative in support of Community Food Centers Canada.

The Heaps Estrin Team is delighted to announce The Silver Lining Project, a collaboration with award winning Toronto-based photographer Camilla Pucholt in support of Community Food Centres Canada. In these unprecedented times, we wanted to find a way to give back to our city and to support organizations that are at the frontlines of this global health crisis. The Silver Lining Project’s mandate is to help capture a ‘moment in history’ and spread some optimism, bring people together and raise money for an incredibly important cause. Before COVID-19 hit, 4.4 million Canadians faced food insecurity – inadequate or irregular access to food due to financial constraints. It’s now threatening to become a deeper national crisis. Precarious employment and the closure of many businesses means that the number of Canadians who will require emergency food aid will increase exponentially over the coming weeks.

This April, plan the perfect moment with your loved ones and we will come to photograph it at an outdoor location of your choice. It can be in front of your house, on the street or in a local green space. You can jump around, dress up, dress down, bring some props, bring the family pet …we encourage you to get creative with it.

The sessions will be 10 minutes long at an outdoor location of your choice (while respecting the current closure of many public places). Although the photos can be “close ups” the pictures will be taken with a long lens and at a minimum of 10 feet away. For every photograph we take, we will donate $8 to the Community Food Centres Canada which will provide one healthy meal to someone who needs it and helps support Community Food Centres Canada in their fight against an ever-deepening food crisis.

We are so happy to share that within one month, The Silver Lining Project has raised a phenomenal $5,000, which gives 625 individuals a healthy meal! Because of the astounding success, we have extended and will continue to run on Tuesdays for the month of May in the GTA!

Thank you to everyone who has joined us in this amazing initiative and also donated to Community Food Centers Canada.

If you would like to participate, please email us at cailey@heapsestrin.com and we will help book your session with Camilla.

Spread the word…the Silver Lining Project will run until the end of May on Tuesdays in the GTA.
