Wanless Park is very popular among families with young children; its main attraction, a large park of the same name, is an island of green space right in the centre of the neighbourhood with many amenities for kids (dog walkers love it too). Wanless Park residents enjoy the convenience of walking to all the local amenities, including the Bedford Park Public School and Community Centre, the George Locke Public Library, Yonge Street shopping and Lawrence Subway Station.
The area’s solid-brick detached houses—a mix of two-storey and bungalows—were built mostly in the 1930s and ’40s. Property sizes are excellent: most houses have a 30-foot frontage, at least, and either a mutual or private driveway. Most face the park or back out on to the Riverview Drive ravine.
The Lawrence subway station, on the Yonge-University-Spadina line, is within walking distance of Wanless Park, but you can also reach it via bus routes on Mount Pleasant Road and Lawrence Avenue. Downtown Toronto is approximately 20 minutes by car; Highway 401 via the Yonge Street on-ramp is approximately five.
